How to Protect your Business from PABX Fraud
January 5, 2015
Here are just some of the ways that you, personally, can protect your system.
They can enter your phone system and use your account to make calls. The fraudsters’ then on-sell calls using your account. This results in a bill which you must pay. Phone systems have become more sophisticated and now hackers can gain access to your phone system in the following ways.
* Voicemail boxes with default password like “0000” or “1234”.
* Maintenance port open in firewall
We would strongly recommend that you speak to your phone support service provider to ensure that your system is safe from these hackers. At a minimum you should close or restrict the phone port on your firewall so only the support company’s IP have access to your phone system. Ask them to remove the facility to make calls from your voicemail and to change any default or simple passwords.
